- Licensing and identification information: driver’s license number, state ID, date of birth, and where required by your state’s DMV or court, the last 4 or 5 digits of your Social Security Number — collected solely to report your course completion to the appropriate licensing authority
- Any other information you choose to submit when contacting us
Information We Collect Automatically
When you visit or use our Site, we and our service providers automatically collect certain information, including:
- Device and browser information: IP address, device type, operating system, and browser type
- Usage data: pages visited, links clicked, time spent on pages, referring URLs, and date/time stamps
- Location data: approximate location inferred from your IP address
- Cookie and tracking data: as described in Section 4 below

- DMV and licensing authorities: We are required to electronically submit your course completion data — including your name, license number, and other identifying information — to the DMV, courts, or equivalent authorities in your state.
- PayPal Braintree: We share payment information with Braintree solely to process your transaction. Braintree is PCI-compliant and bound by strict data security requirements.
- Google: We use Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, and Google Ads conversion tracking. We also use Google’s Enhanced Conversions feature, which sends hashed versions of information you provide (such as email address) to Google to improve conversion measurement accuracy. See Section 4 for detail.
- Legal compliance: We may disclose your information when required by law, subpoena, or court order, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Distance Learning Company, our users, or the public.
- Business transfers: If Distance Learning Company is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you via email or a prominent notice on the Site.
4. Cookies and Tracking Technologies

Hashing is a one-way process — the data cannot be reversed to its original form by Google or anyone else. Google uses this to match conversions to consented, signed-in Google accounts. 5. Email Communications
We send transactional emails only — including receipts, course access confirmations, and completion certificates — directly from our own mail server. We do not use a third-party commercial email marketing platform.
- Transactional emails are required to deliver our Services and cannot be opted out of while your account is active.
- Marketing emails, if sent, will always include an unsubscribe link. You may also opt out at any time by contacting us at info@trafficschoolonline.com.
6. Data Retention
We retain your personal information for as long as necessary to:
- Provide the Services and maintain your account
- Comply with legal and regulatory obligations, including DMV record-keeping requirements
- Resolve disputes and enforce our agreements
When data is no longer needed for these purposes, we securely delete or anonymize it.
7. Data Security
We use commercially reasonable technical and organizational measures — including encryption, access controls, and secure infrastructure — to protect your information from unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. 8. Automated Decision-Making
We do not use automated decision-making, including profiling, in ways that produce legal or similarly significant effects on you. Course completion and eligibility determinations are governed by state DMV regulations, not algorithmic profiling.
9. Children’s Privacy
Our Services are not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have collected information from a child under 13, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
10. Your Privacy Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have specific rights regarding your personal information. We honor these rights for all U.S. residents regardless of state.

- Right to Know: Request the categories and specific pieces of personal information we’ve collected, its sources, purposes, and third-party recipients.

Course Scope Disclaimer:
This course is not intended as training from a licensed driving school. It does not meet the standards, training, or requirements in preparation for being issued a driver’s license. This course has been reviewed and approved to meet the requirements for the traffic violator school program. Completion documentation will not be issued to those not meeting the traffic violator school program criteria.
Eligibility — Masking of Traffic Violations:
Pursuant to Vehicle Code section 1808.7, the following situations are not eligible for masking a traffic safety violation on a California driver record:
- The driver has already attended a traffic violator course within 18 months of the conviction.
- The driver holds a commercial license as defined in Vehicle Code section 15210.
- The driver holds a commercial driver’s license from out of state.
- The violation occurred in a commercial motor vehicle as defined in Vehicle Code section 15210.
- The violator has not paid a deposit of fees or bail and has not pleaded guilty, no contest, or been convicted by the court of jurisdiction.
- The conviction would result in a violation point count of more than one point pursuant to Vehicle Code section 12810. A list of Vehicle Code two-point violations may be found at [www.dmv.ca.gov](http://www.dmv.ca.gov).
Required Information for Course Completion:
This site will require your California driver’s license or California identification number, or, if you do not have a California driver’s license or California identification card, your birthdate, the court reference number (docket, ticket, or citation number), and the name of the court with jurisdiction or the court code. These are requirements for receiving a completion receipt and to have the information sent to the court of jurisdiction should you successfully pass this course. If you are unable to provide the required information, your participation shall not be credited toward satisfying the requirement.
